In what we hope to be the start of a new tradition, the Eastcoaster Swiss Pairs was held at the Eastcoaster Resort in Orford on the weekend of 6-7 August 2022. Thirty two pairs competed in 9 rounds of 9 board matches across a day and a half. Entrants included pairs from Devonport and Launceston.
The 2022 TBA Congress was held at the TBA clubrooms on the weekend of 23-24 July 2022. Saturday was the Matchpoint Pairs with open and restricted events across two sessions and a single session novice event. Sunday was the Swiss Pairs with 28 pairs playing 6 rounds.
The 2021 Tasmanian Swiss Pairs Championship was held across 20th-21st November at the TBA. This was the final state event for 2021. This event rotates annually between Hobart, Devonport and Launceston. The event consisted of 7 x 14 board IMP and VP scored matches.
On Sunday 3 October 2021, 18 pairs competed in the TBA Spring Pairs. This was played over 6 x 9 board matches with a Swiss draw, scored by cross IMPS* converted to Victory Points. It was great to see three pairs from the north playing.
On Sunday 12 September 2021 the TBA came together to celebrate Bert Forage's 100th birthday with the "Bert Forage Centenary Day of Bridge". Twenty one tables played in three sections with an individual movement. Each player played one board with each of 21 partners across the session.
Saturday 4th September saw the Tasmanian Restricted Pairs Championship played at the TBA. This was an all day event for players with fewer than 150 masterpoints. Ten pairs competed providing a thrilling competition with very close scoring between the whole field.
